Inspection by Motor-Mech, Birmingham in September 2011

Picture
To give increased confidence to buyers and to avoid "haggling" over the price, I commissioned Motor-Mech in Birmingham to inspect the car.

Once you have read this be sure to view the "Car Check" page.  Saving you another job!

The inspection included a test-drive and exterior, engine and chassis inspection.  The interior condition was excluded though the operation of controls was tested.

Motor-Mech are an Italian Car Specialist based in central Birmingham.  They were used to replace the alternator in 2008 and continue to provide excellent, honest service and I would recommend them to anyone.

Here are the comments that were noted during the inspection but require no action.

Nearside front wing paint cracked.
We've detailed this on the exterior condition page.  This is no worse than when purchased in 2007.
Corrosion on passenger side scuttle panel.
Minimal and the chassis in general is in good rust free condition.
Front bumper lacquer flaking.
As other Integrales, the front bumper tends to collect EVERYTHING!  It is in need of removal and a respray.  I use a very good bodyshop for my Porsche locally and would be happy to arrange for a prospective buyer at their cost.
Rims damaged.
Minor kerb damage - parking damage really.  The two front wheels I would say are 7/10 for condition and the rears 5/10.  The rears would benefit from refinishing - £50/wheel.  We are not doing this as a potential buyer may prefer silver or even gold coloured wheels!  They are currently white.
Oil leaks (engine and driveshaft)
Motor-Mech said these are expected and do not need attention, nor will need attention.  These cars have a tendency to do this and no action is required.  I had explained on the inspection that we wanted to be totally transparent - Motor-Mech wouldn't even have mentioned it if we hadn't said that!
And here are the items that do warrant action.  We are currently deciding whcih of these jobs to perform before selling the vehicle.
Exhaust fouling and loose heat shield
Exhibits as a slight rattle whilst driving.  Not overly intrusive but needs rectifying.
Front anti-roll bar linkages worn
This was actually picked up by John Whalley in 2007 during the engine rebuild.  They were still serviceable then and have only just reached the point of requiring repair.
Front and rear washer inoperative
These have now been repaired.
Handbrake requires adjustment
Before next MOT the handbrake will require adjustment.  A common task!
